Job Description:

To assemble finished product using sub-assemblies, parts, and fasteners, and pack in designated carton according to customer specification sheet and company policies.

Essential Job Function:

Your responsibilities include reviewing and adhering to instructions as you position parts manually or with machinery and basic hand tools. You’re expected to pay attention to detail and measurements, inspect final products for quality, and overall ensure production lines can continue running efficiently. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Checks Customer Specification Sheet (CSS) to determine required assembly, exterior finish on product, and any special options.
  • Checks stock bins for adequate supplies of sub-assemblies, parts, and fasteners for the particular run. Checks for designated carton pack. Contacts material handler if shortages exists or incorrect parts are in bins.
  • Checks operating controls and safety stops on conveyor. Checks power and hand tools for correct operation.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts, and sub-assemblies, per customer order.
  • Checks first three assembled products, comparing each to CSS.
  • From experience, resolves assembly and packing problems. Reports other problems to Line Leader or Supervisor for assistance.
  • At end of run, completes production report and.
  • At end of run, contacts material handler, clears stock bins and flat cartons of unused items, and prepares for next run.
  • Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
  • May pre-form cartons ahead of line pace.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in intricate hand assembly on paced assembly line, preferably

Physical Demands:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment. All employees must wear company approved safety glasses while in the plant and distribution areas.

Environmental Elements:

Employees primarily work in the warehouse and are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
