Job Description:

A Mold Maintenance Technician primarily repairs and maintains Injection Molding production tooling, ensures that damaged molds are repaired properly and in a timely manner, so that there is a minimization of downtime in the Injection Molding Department.


Essential Job Function:

The Mold Maintenance Technician diagnoses mechanical issues and/or damage to molds. This involves using their expertise to identify and assess any problems with the injection molding dies, and then determining the appropriate course of action to address these issues. Additionally, the technician should be able to effectively communicate with appropriate personnel such as engineering and planning to ensure that any issues are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.


Primary Responsibilities:

•Repairs and maintains Injection Molding Dies.

•Performs preventative maintenance and document per the Maintenance database.

•Use forklifts and hand jacks to transport dies to and from the tool room.

•Use of an overhead crane regularly.

•Diagnose mechanical issues and/or damage to molds.

•Assists in other daily tool room duties and needs as necessary.

•Performs routine equipment maintenance.

•Communicates with appropriate personnel such as engineering and planning.

•Knowledge of general industrial maintenance.

•Ensures molds are properly prepped in advance.

•Coordinates outside mold repair when needed.

Job requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

•3-5 Year Experience in Injection Molding Maintenance

•High School Diploma or GED

•Ability to read and understand blueprints.

•Basic arithmetic and reading skills required.

•Must be able to fill out forms, read technical manuals, schematics, catalogues, carry out written instructions etc.

•Must have a basic knowledge of injection molding process, hot runner experience a plus.

•Must be able to work with minimum supervision.

•Must be able to communicate with others to assess problems and find solutions.

•General knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic & electrical systems

•Ability to run Mills, Lathes, Surface Grinders and any other tool room equipment.


Physical Demands:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment. All employees must wear company approved safety glasses while in the plant and distribution areas.


Environmental Elements:

Employees primarily work in the warehouse and are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
