Job Description: 

The Injection Molding Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of all molded parts, ensuring they meet established specifications prior to being approved for use in production. This role involves entering and reviewing inspection data, identifying quality issues, and recommending process improvements. The technician works closely with the Master Molder and Molding Technicians to maintain high product quality standards.

Essential Job Function:

As the Molding Quality Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining product integrity and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards throughout the injection molding process. You will be directly responsible for monitoring daily in-process production by performing detailed visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on all molded parts produced in the department. Your work is essential in identifying defects early, supporting immediate corrective actions, and ensuring consistent, uninterrupted production. This is a hands-on, physically active position that requires frequent movement on the production floor.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional in-process inspections according to established procedures.

  • Accurately enter inspection results into SPC (Statistical Process Control) systems.

  • Use measurement tools such as calipers, height gauges, dial gauges, and color vision systems to inspect molded parts.

  • Document all inspections and quality alerts thoroughly.

  • Identify and recognize defects in molded parts and communicate issues to Molding Technicians for corrective action.

  • Proactively recommend and support implementation of quality, safety, and productivity improvements.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Molding Quality Lab.

  • Write Material Hold Tickets to properly isolate and label rejected or suspect parts.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum education – High School

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Injection Molding

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while maintaining a friendly and cooperative atmosphere.

  • Must be well organized with good written and oral skills.

  • Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must be able to work well with multiple departments.

  • Ability and desire to learn proper metrology and measuring practices.
